TALKING PSEUDOMORPHS
Based on his blog for a recent Cultural Olympiad commission on the Isle of Portland (see here for more details), Simon Ryder is presenting a performance-talk at 7.30pm on Thursday 29th November at Stroud Valleys Artspace. This event takes a personal walk through the hinterland of the project, exploring what did, and what didn’t, make it into the final work, including an episode from the 1980s children’s animation ‘Portland Bill’. The event is £4 on the door at SVA, 4 John Street, Stroud, GL5 2HA.

Don’t miss the chance to see a selection of the ExLab summer programme of Visual Arts and Science activity which was located around Dorset. It’s very intriguing to see these works away from the context which they were originally created for, presenting a new group dynamic in the gallery setting. The commissions began with a shared vision to respond to the geology of the Jurassic Coastline, and inland geology, and seen together they tell the story of ExLab AND Dorset geology in a unique way.

a message from Zac: Manifold at Red House

Dear Friends,

This Thursday, 4th October is the private view of ‘This is How to Live’, a group show by Studio Manifold at the National Trust property Red House in Bexley Heath. I hope you will be able to join me for a few drinks in the former home of founder of the Arts & Crafts Movement William Morris. ‘This is How to Live’ comprises of parallel site-specific exhibitions that examine the material and contextual situation of Red House and 2 Willow Road. Individual and collaborative works explore these two National Trust properties through new design, image, sculpture and audio intervention. Both shows run until 14th October.

AUCTION OF ORIGINAL ART WORKS AT DURLSTON NOW!
An affordable opportunity to own an original art work!

ExLab (an exhibition of work exploring art and science on the coast)
continues at Durlston County Park until Tuesday 2nd October.

Exhibited in the Fine Foundation Gallery is work by ceramicist and
multi-media artist, Zachary Eastwood-Bloom. The exhibition features an
interesting mix of both traditional and contemporary processes such as
casting, CNC milling, 3D printing and laser cutting.

As this is the final few days of the exhibition we are very pleased to offer
you an opportunity to own an original art work created by Zac, a very up and
coming London based artist, by holding a silent auction. There is no nerve
racking auction room to contend with – all you have to do is decide what
you would like to pay for the exhibit, as long as it is above the minimum
bid recommended, complete all your details on the bidding form in the Fine
Foundation Gallery and hand the form in to the shop steward. If you are the
highest bidder you will be notified after Tuesday 2nd October. Do remember
that all work must be collected from Durlston.

The performance is NOT Thursday 13th but Saturday 15th September

Saturday 15 Sept, 6-8pm: Walk with ranger, artist talk and music

Ian Pillow – modern classical composer and former BSO musician has taken Zac’s sound piece and arranged it for strings and recorders and will have some musicians to perform it as part of the evening – should be an interesting experiment!
